Labor Relations update

This page is designed to provide our staff and community with information, resources, and progress reports relevant to current contract negotiations that are taking place between the South San Francisco Unified School District and and the South San Francisco Classroom Teachers Association (CTA).  Please check back often for updates as this process moves forward.

BARGAINING UPDATE - SEPTEMBER 28, 2021

The District and the South San Francisco Classroom Teacher Association ("Association") met on September 28.  At this meeting, the District and Association continued to bargain a successor agreement. The District had a counter to the Associations proposal regarding Article 18 - Children's Center. The Association countered the District proposal on Article 18.  The District and Association reached tentative agreement on some contract language. The District reiterated it's positon on other items.  At this meeting, Mr. O, Assistant Superintendent of Business Services, presented information regarding the District's budget and various plans on where money is being spent.   

The teams plan to meet again on October 27

BARGAINING UPDATE - AUGUST 24, 2021

The District and the South San Francisco Classroom Teacher Association ("Association") met on August 24.  At this meeting, the District and Association worked on a side letter of agreement around safety. We agreed on a side letter of agreement which included protocols set forth by the California Department of Public Health, CalOSHA, San Mateo County Department of Public Health and the State of California adhering to most current COVID-19 requirements issued to schools.

The teams plan to meet again on September 28, 2021

Bargaining Update - June 4, 2021

The District and the South San Francisco Classroom Teacher Association ("Association") met on June 4.  At this meeting, the District proposed increasing the school day for an increase in salary for the 2021-2022 school year using one-time funds. The Association and District could not come to an agreement. In addition, the District and association shared proposals around additional language regarding teaching hours and leaves.  

BARGAINING UPDATE - May 19, 2021

The District and the South San Francisco Classroom Teacher Association ("Association") met on May 19.  At this meeting, the District shared data regarding salaried of the District and surrounding district.  The District countered the Associations initial proposal on language regarding teaching hours and leaves.

The District and Association have tentative agreements on language regarding teaching hours. 

The teams agreed to meet again  on June 4. 

BARGAINING UPDATE - May 11, 2021

The District and the South San Francisco Classroom Teacher Association ("Association") met on May 11.  At this meeting, the Association shared their initial proposals which included salary increases for three years, an increase to the hourly rate, language around teaching hours, language around decreasing class sizes, and language around leave.  The cost impact of the Association's proposal was unknown. The District will cost out the Associations initial proposal and get back to the Association.

The teams agreed to meet again on May 19.
