SSFUSD AND CSEA BARGAINING UPDATE – March 7, 2019

 

The District and the California School Employees Association (“CSEA”) met on March 7, 2019 for their initial bargaining session on 2018-2019 contract reopeners.  The District provided CSEA with remaining proposed revisions to job descriptions in an effort to resolve and implement the Ewing Classification Study. 

 

CSEA then presented its initial proposal which included revisions to existing contract terms consistent with the US Supreme Court’s decision in Janus v. AFSCME, salary increases, a longevity increase, an increase to health & welfare benefits, among others.

 

The District presented its counter proposal which included proposed increases to the classified salary schedule: 2.25% for 2018-2019 and 2.25% 2019-2020, full employee-only coverage for medical, dental, and vision benefits for all full-time employees effective July 1, 2019, an increase in guaranteed minimum hours for paraprofessionals, among others.

The Parties will meet again on March 20, 2019.

SSFUSD AND CSEA BARGAINING UPDATE – March 20, 2019

The District and the California School Employees Association (“CSEA”) met on March 20, 2019 for their second bargaining session on 2018-2019 contract reopeners.  The District and CSEA discussed previous proposals which centered around salary increases and language around stipends.  The District is costing our proposed stipends.

The Parties will meet again on April 17, 2019.

 

SSFUSD AND CSEA BARGAINING UPDATE – April 17, 2019

The District and the California School Employees Association (“CSEA”) met on April 17, 2019 for their third bargaining session on 2018-2019 contract reopeners.  

The District presented its counter proposal which included proposed increases to the classified salary schedule: 2.25% for 2018-2019 and an additional 2.25% for 2019-2020; full employee-only coverage for medical, dental, and vision benefits for all full-time employees effective July 1, 2019; an increase in guaranteed minimum hours for special education paraprofessionals; and an increase to the longevity stipends, among other items. The parties also reached conceptual agreement on various changes to existing contract language.

 

The Parties will meet again on May 7, 2019.

SSFUSD AND CSEA BARGAINING UPDATE – May 7, 2019

The District and the California School Employees Association (“CSEA”) met on May 7, 2019 for their fourth bargaining session on 2018-2019 contract reopeners.  

The District presented its counter proposal which included a proposed two year agreement, consisting of increases to the classified salary schedule of 2.25% for 2018-2019 and an additional 2.25% for 2019-2020.  This would resolve all contract negotiation obligations through June 30, 2020.  The District’s proposal also continued its offer of full employee-only coverage for medical, dental, and vision benefits for all full-time employees effective July 1, 2019, an increase in guaranteed minimum hours for special education paraprofessionals, and a 0.5% increase to all longevity stipends, among other economic and non-economic terms. CSEA did not present a counter proposal and the parties were unable to reach agreement on terms. 

The Parties have two additional meetings scheduled for May 13, 2019 and May 21, 2019.
